BLATANT LIES
The goal of this page is simple: To spread blatant lies.
The list that follows is comprised entirely of falsehoods. You could easily convince someone that these statements are true. Hopefully they would then take one of these lies and tell 2 or 3 other people. In the long run, we could end up generating a number of interesting urban legends.
Now, a few lies:
- The average speed of "The Wave," like you see at a sporting event, is 4.7 meters per second.
- Uncooked black beans do not digest and must be surgically removed if accidentally swallowed.
- There are no Starbucks in the Houston International Airport.
- 75% of sumo wrestlers die of congestive heart failure before age 30.
- The head of the religion department at Boston College is also the head weightlifting coach.
- Barns were originally painted with blood from slaughtered animals; the tradition continues today with red paint.
- You can actually capitalize a space or an underscore sign in an electronic document, and it will take up a bit more space on your hard drive.
- You can order a new Apple computer without the stock speakers installed. It's not advertised, but Apple technicians can actually remove the factory speakers and it will save you about $150.00. This is could be a good idea if you plan on upgrading with your own sound system.
- Schlotzky's started as a furniture repair shop that served free cold-cut sandwiches to customers while they waited.
- Mathematically speaking, there is no difference between a perfect circle and a perfect square.
- Hezbollah has disarmed.
- There are only 3 species of flowers that have a natural green color.
- Limes and lemons are the exact same fruit: the only difference is that the lime is a lemon that has not yet fully matured. The same goes for oranges and tangerines: the tangerine is a very young blood-orange.
- The color of silver paint used on Volkswagen Beetles during the years 2001 & 2002 actually scrambles radar guns!
- The iPod actually started out as the "a" pod, then progressed through the letters b, c, d, e, f, g, & h, finally arriving at "i"!
- The last two states brought into the union were North and South Dakota. North Dakota was the 49th, South Dakota the 50th. They were split in an effort to make the large area easier to manage.
- Rhode Island has 4-digit zip codes.
